As part of the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the HKSAR, The Austrian Chamber of Commerce has launched the new book “Servus Hong Kong II.”  on July 4, 2017.

“Servus Hong Kong II.” is a stimulating and historically important compilation of impressions, experiences, and anecdotes rather than just a commercial publication serving as an important snapshot of Austria in the region.

An illustrated and written historical abstract (264 pages) of the Austrian community in Hong Kong.

European Chamber of Commerce Business Councils Position Papers for 2017 are out

Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) - Press Release on "Bank account opening and maintenance"

AustroCham is pleased to announce the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) launched on March 24, 2017 a webpage on its website (http:// www.hkma.gov.hk/eng/other-information/ac_opening.shtml) and a dedicated email account (accountopening@hkma.gov.hk) to receive comments and answer queries regarding opening and maintenance of bank accounts.

The newly launched HKMA webpage contains useful information about account opening and maintenance procedures, documentation and information requirements and contact details of banks. It also provides information on what banks should not do when processing account opening applications, and useful tips for reference of the unsuccessful applicants. There is also a “What’s New” section to provide updates of banks’ recent initiatives regarding account opening and maintenance. The webpage will be updated from time to time. The dedicated email account facilitates the public to share views and/or specific cases for appropriate follow-up actions by the HKMA. This is on top of the complaint handling mechanism that is currently in operation. The specific feedback gathered would help the HKMA and banks in considering further areas for improvement.
