As you know the Austrian Trade Commission, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce Hong Kong (AustroCham) as well as some illustrious representatives of the Hong Kong and Austrian society are publishing a new edition of the book “Servus Hong Kong” this year.

Austria has a long history in Hong Kong. As early as 1791, Austria had diplomatic representation in Canton. Since 1961 Austria has been represented economically and diplomatically in Hong Kong being one of the foreign pioneers in the region. We are planning to re-edit and publish “Servus Hong Kong” which is about the history and adventures of Austrians and their firms in Hong Kong, as well as of Hong Kong people and companies in Austria. Our goal is to create something worthwhile, possibly amusing, about Hong Kong - Austria interactions.

The book will be an enjoyable and historically important compilation of impressions, experiences and anecdotes rather than a commercial publication. As an important snapshot of Austria in the region “Servus Hong Kong” will also be a great gift.
 
Austrian institutions in Hong Kong, essay authors and a number of personalities have already agreed to support this project: Dr Rudolf Agstner (Diplomat and Historian), Johanna Arculli, Dr Brigitte Blaha (Austrian Federal Ministry for Foreign Affairs), Wilhelm Brauner (AustroCham), Dr Gordian Gaeta, Prof Albert König, Anthony Hardy, Thomas Lai, Dr Michael Moser, Christian Rhomberg, Christian Schierer (Austrian Trade Commission), Dr Helmut Sohmen, Henry Steiner and Lothar Wesemann.

We invite Austrians, local representatives of Austrian companies and everyone who has had relevant experience in relationship with Hong Kong and Austria to contribute to this unique publication. Please send interesting, amusing stories, historical or personal anecdotes (preferably with images) by the end of May 2013 to servus@advantageaustria.org.
